The Criminal Abatement Workshop is a course designed to explain the legal tools available through federal, state, and local ordinances to target "crime magnets".

Students are asked to bring examples of chronic problems from their station city areas to discuss in class. The course also offers information on crime prevention through environmental design, how to focus criminal investigations for the purpose of holding property owners and managers accountable and public housing.

This course is a P.O.S.T. plan IV, which means P.O.S.T. will reimburse subsistence and travel costs. All P.O.S.T. reimbursed training needs unit level approval prior to attending.

During this 2-day course, topics to be covered include:

• Criminal abatement laws
• Tough program overview - L.A. City Attorney's Office
• Landlord/tenant relationships
• Criminal abatement applications
• Criminal abatement methods
• Case preparations

There is no cost for this training.
