Regional Community Policing Institute-California in partnership with CaliforniaVolunteers, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the College of the Canyons is offering a:

COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT) TRAIN THE TRAINER COURSE – L428

JANUARY 8, 9 AND 10, 2013

Course Description:
This course prepares participants to deliver Federal Emergency Management Agency’s CERT Basic Training course. Additionally the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) awards 1.8 CEUs for completion of this course.

Course Goal:
This train-the-trainer course focuses on preparing instructors to:

  1. Deliver the CERT Basic Training
  2. Convey the messages and intent of the CERT Program (e.g., safety, teamwork, place in overall community emergency operations plan)
  3. Assure that students achieve the objectives of the CERT Basic Training
  4. Create a comfortable, yet managed learning environment.

Prerequisite:
The prerequisites for attending the CERT Train-the-Trainer course include:

  1. Must have a referral from a CERT sponsoring agency. The CERT sponsoring agency could be a local, regional, or State government agency. Online registrations will be forwarded an application via email to submit prior to final course confirmation.
  2. Must have completed the CERT Basic Training course and/or completed the CERT Basic Training course or IS317: Introduction to CERT Course http://www.citizencorps.gov/cert/IS317/
